As I was surfing for information resources this morning, I was inspired to watch one of Magenta Pixie‘s latest videos, “Divining through Synchronicity.” In the video she talked about, “bibliomancy.” Essentially, this process is using your intuition to go through an index, reading list, etc. to answer a question you have. Whatever you are inspired to read/listen to will be relevant to you. In this way you can pair synchronicity and discernment in sorting through information overload.
Today’s Synchronicity
In “Divining,” Magenta’s guides point to a video, “Change Is Upon You,” which contains information they shared in previous years. This was their example of a video that could be found through bibliomancy related to the complicated, and often challenging to discern, information environment we live in. It’s a very valuable teaching, so let me share it with you:
In fact, I believe discernment is one of, if not the, critical skill people need to exercise. So, let me give you a few helpful hints from my article, Spiritual Propaganda,” They can help you build your discernment muscle:
Synchronicity
One of the ways the Universe lets me know my discernment is on track is synchronicity. Let’s say I want to know whether I should invest in a blue handblown glass vase. I feel inspired but my logic is telling me the piece is beyond my budget. I’m torn in two directions and don’t feel settled about my actions. So, I just ask, “Universe, what would it take for me to feel aligned with my choice about the vase?” Then, I just move on with my daily activities. But, I realize that pretty much everywhere I go I see blue glass – candles, ornaments, bowls, etc. Additionally, the more blue glass I see, the happier I feel. So, I eventually revisit the choice to purchase the blue art vase, and very good things flow from that choice.
Too Good to Be True
There’s an old saying, “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true.” While adages can be conditioning, my life experience tells me that when I’ve ignored this guidance, I often find the results of decisions I make less than satisfactory. For example, I did a currency play one time where we were going to make 1,000 times the amount of money we invested. Let me tell you, that currency never revalued. It also is almost worthless against stable currencies.
Fruit of the Tree
Look at the fruit of the tree. If what you believe is producing the results you want, then your discernment is on target. But if following information makes you “less than” what you already are in some way (financially, physically, behaviorally, educationally, etc.), then the fruit of the tree of that guidance is poisonous.
Trust Your Gut
When conflicting information is “crazy-making,” step back, take a breath, and focus elsewhere. Then, when you are ready, trust your gut. If you feel flow, increase, vitality, and joy around an idea, explore that some more. If you feel constriction, decrease, low energy, or indifference to guidance, then it’s probably not for you.
Get Back to Basics
When you are confused, go back to basics. Take a breath, step back, and journal about what you do know in your heart of hearts to be true. Don’t be surprised if your list is short. My list, “What Is True in My Heart of Hearts” follows:
- I am here now.
- There is an ultimate organizing principle in the one and many universes.
- This is a Natural Law Universe.
- Nature models how natural law works perfectly.
- The Earth gives human co-creators physical feedback for their choices.
To me, everything else is up for discussion. 🙂 But the exercise gave me a foundation to look at information. At the very least I can compare what I’m hearing or reading to my core understanding of how our Universe works and go from there.
