One of the challenges that makes thriving in these times of chaotic change so difficult is the rate of information thrown at you. Discernment seems tough when opinions fly at you faster and faster, especially since no one agrees about facts or interpretations. But, if you want to be one of the people that not only survives but thrives, your freedom of choice depends on controlling your emotions so that you don’t listen to lies and react to them. Then, you can act in your own best interests. Discernment and acting in your own best interests are key skills for maintaining your role as co-creator of your life.
Every single one of the lies I will reveal is designed to grab your emotions and keep you off balance. In this way you stop discerning the truth and are easily manipulated into acting against your own best interests. It is important to recognize the terrible danger this is not only to you and your loved ones, but to the species as a whole. Nature notices when a species starts acting against its own best interests. If this pattern continues, our species is bound for extinction.
In my first post in the Freedom of Choice series, I am going to share my thoughts on a major lie that has begun to normalize the notion that life has no or little value.
Do Not Listen to Lies:
Killing Viable Infants Is Not an Acceptable Health Care Practice
Lie 1 – Abortion is Birth Control;
Late-Term Abortion Is a Woman’s Health Care Right
Abortion was never intended to be a common practice, used instead of condoms, birth control devices and medications, and abstinence. For decades after I became sexually active, Americans believed that abortion should be rare, only used if the Mother’s life was in jeopardy, in cases or rape, or if the fetus died in utero. Each state’s voters decided whether they wanted to have legal abortions in their state. Because abortions were uncommon, across the nation teenagers were educated about birth control in high school, and sexually active people tended to stop their sexual activities just short of full intercourse. If a couple became pregnant, they usually married.
Lie 2 – Comfort Care Is Comfortable
I don’t know if you have ever been the caretaker for loved ones who have Living Wills that prevent them from being fed and hydrated at a certain point in their health care. But, I hope you never have to go through this experience. I have been a part of the in-room family support system for three of our parents, all who have had this choice in their Living Wills.
Because of what I saw and heard, I have removed this instruction from my Living Will. The reason why I did this is because no matter how many pain killers and tranquilizers are given to comfort a loved one who is starving and dehydrating to death, it’s obvious that while the mind is drugged, the body suffers tremendously. I still have nightmares of the moaning, screaming, confused sharing of auditory and visual hallucinations, tremors, and suffocating that each one of our parents physically experienced as their body died an inch at a time.
From this perspective, I firmly believe with all my heart that there is no “comfort care” that makes it okay for a viable infant, alive after a late-term abortion, to be left in a room to dehydrate and starve to death. In my opinion, any doctor who participates in this process at the very least does not follow the Hippocratic Oath, and quite frankly, I see this act as murder. There are alternatives to killing an unwanted, late-term baby. For example, plenty of couples are looking to adopt children. Additionally, a plethora of birth control options that do not include late-term abortion and infanticide exist.
Do Not Listen to Lies: Questions to Ponder
Why are people, especially the young, encouraged to be sexually active without taking responsibility for birth control first? How did our species get their “love” and “sex” wiring crossed so much that women, in particular, equate having sex with being loved? Who says abortion is a viable birth control choice, especially for women who have had multiple abortions? What happens to a species that “eats its young” to the point of near extinction? Who wants population control? Is population control implemented for everyone or are only certain segments of society targeted for control?
Lie 3 – Thousands of Women Died Every Year before Roe
Here’s some facts about Planned Parenthood’s False Statistics about deaths before Roe. The Washington Post gave this information Four Pinocchios.
The CDC began collecting data on abortion mortality in 1972, the year before Roe was decided. In 1972, the number of deaths in the United States for legal abortions was 24 and from illegal abortions 39, according to the CDC.
Prior to WWII, there may have been as many deaths in the United States from illegal abortion as 1,000, but post WWII medical care improvements severely decreased this number. Stanley Henshaw, a researcher who has been studying abortion statistics from 1979 to 2013 states:
In my opinion, if Roe v. Wade were overturned, women would turn to relatively safe medications that can be purchased over the Internet. There would be some deaths but probably not as many as there were in the 1960s.
Lie 4 – Abortion Is the Only Answer
If a woman finds herself in the position of having unprotected sex, emergency contraceptives are available over the counter. If taken within 72 hours of having unprotected sex, morning after pills are effective 89-95% of the time.
Another alternative to abortion is adoption. When my older brother was born, his father was no longer in the picture, and my Mom had healthcare issues where it nearly was impossible to care for him. She went to her church and asked for help, and my brother was adopted by an older couple who adored him. He is now a successful business and family man.
Lie 5 – You Can Get on with Your Life
I felt really amazed when I saw a woman at a pro-abortion march celebrate her dominion over her body by bragging that she had had multiple abortions and would have one again. It’s unfortunate that she is a dominant face of the pro-choice movement, because I don’t believe her. I know several women who have had abortions as teenagers. They grieve and feel guilty, even years later, when they try to get pregnant and can’t or they get pregnant and it triggers the emotional experience of having an abortion.
Lie 6: Planned Parenthood Doesn’t Target Anyone
Really? Let’s look at this more closely, because it’s not true. The Founder of Planned Parenthood believed poor people having abortions eliminates poverty.
Lie 7: Planned Parenthood Doesn’t Benefit from Your Abortion
In September, 2019, Planned Parenthood was forced to admit in court that they sold harvested fetal body parts. Click Here for more information. Since this group has a financial and historical interest in urging abortion as health care, I suggest that you do your own investigations. Then, you can make an informed decision.
Alternatives
We, as a people who want to remain viable as a species, can create alternatives to using abortion as birth control. Now that our government has cut funding to Planned Parenthood, here are my suggestions:
- Reallocate tax dollars to educating our youth on safe sex and birth control
- Support organizations that educate our youth about safe sex and provide birth control as their main directive
- Work with churches and non-profits to make sure low or no cost birth control are easily available
- Reallocate tax dollars to improve the foster care system and help people who want to adopt children
- Create community-based support systems for infants and children in foster care
Instead of having your reality controlled by propaganda, don’t just passively listen to lies. Slow down and really listen. Do your own research. Make a decision that is right for you.

Thank you for reading, “If You Want to Thrive, Don’t Listen to Lies.” A companion to today’s post is coming next. I will talk about one of the saddest counseling sessions I did on the Psychic Hotline. My working title is, “I Had Sex with a Guy in the Alley of My Local Bar. Do He Love Me?”
